How do we
measure the impact of our programming on the young men we
serve?
We just ask
them!
Young men in our Legacy League and Ambassador
Programs are required to blog about their L.E.A.D. experience. This
makes them accountable for their scholarship opportunity and helps
us monitor and adapt our programming so we can ensure that we're
not only delivering an experience that's fun but also life
changing.
Ambassador Blog: Week 18, By Ambassador Lorenzo
Woodward
Our little brothers, our middle school leaders
had their tournament games. I had so much fun watching them play,
because they had to play hard to advance. The first game was so
tense. Young defeated a team 16-0, so they advanced to the
championship to play the upcoming winning team. Sylvan played
strong to advance to the semifinals, and BEST played strong as well
to advance. Sylvan beats Best 10-5 and have a chance to play Young
next week in the championship. Well hard work does pay off because
I got to the park to volunteer at exactly 7:00 am, and left from
the park at 7:00 pm. I was drained , but it was worth it. Next week
championship game will be packed and I'm looking for
it.
What A
Blessing, By Ambassador Mendez Elder
I can't
explain to everyone how much of a blessing and opportunity it is to
be chosen to participate in the Perfect Game Nationals. When I
first heard about me being chosen from my mom, I thought she was
kidding. Once I realized that she was not kidding and that it
was real I got really teary eyed. This is the opportunity I have
been waiting for my whole life. To be honest it still seems like a
dream and it hasn't hit me all the way yet. My mom was so emotional
she also started crying tears of joy because she is so proud of me.
Most of my family members really don't know what the Perfect Game
National is but they know it's something good. This really is an
opportunity to open up a lot of doors for me and my family. I know
without this opportunity being giving to me it would almost be
impossible for my mom to afford to send me there. I show a lot of
emotion when I am happy and this is some of the best news I have
ever heard in my life. It's a honor to go represent for L.E.A.D and
the Atlanta Public School System. I'm going to be prepared and do
every and anything it's going to take to make sure I make everyone
proud of me. I'm going to work and train hard because I know it's
going to be so much competition there. Everyone knows that hard
work pays off and by me working hard and competing against some of
the best athletes in the US, I might have a great chance in making
it to the Aflac All American game. I'm not saying I'm going
to be an Aflac All American but I'm sure going to try my hardest
and give everyone a run for their money. L.E.A.D is my family and I
love you guys and I promise I'm going to make y'all proud of me. I
would also like to thank every single board member and everybody
that knew I could do it. Special thanks goes out to you to Coach CJ
and Coach Kelli, for believing in me and putting all your trust in
me to represent this great organization. I love you
guys!
