What was your first experience with the game of baseball?
The earliest memory of any consequence was going to see the 1962 Mets play at the old Polo Grounds. I was 7 years old and I fell in love with the game that day.
Who is your favorite baseball player and why?
Currently it would be my son Chris at the University of Richmond. I admire his work ethic both on the field and in the classroom. He is passionate about the game and allowed no obstacles to prevent him from playing at the D1 level. He walked on at the University of Richmond and played in 11 games as a freshman, caught bullpen to help the team and took great care of the field. Halfway through his sophomore year he earned an every day starting role at 2nd base and had very respectable stats. He "shows up" for every practice and every game ready to work hard and play hard. He carries this same drive into the classroom, made the Dean's list and earned a spot on the Atlantic 10 Athletic Honor Roll. All of this culminated in his receiving a scholarship at the end of his sophomore year. Quit does not exist in his vocabulary and I am very proud of him.
Tell why serving the community is important to you.
I have been blessed throughout my life and have made opportunities work for me. As a plant manager, I saw many people working as hard as me and yet things would happen that was outside of their control that would set them back. Often a helping hand would get them through it and back on their feet again. It is simply important to me to help whenever I can. Everyone is capable of helping someone at some point in their lives - you just cannot let that opportunity pass you by.
Finish this sentence, "If I could change one thing in the world, it would be......"
to eliminate the ability to judge someone before you get to know them.
