Profile Information

What school do you attend? Include college(s) if applicable.
Westlake High School and GA State University
What was your first experience with the game of baseball?
The first baseball game that I ever watched that I remember was a Atlanta Braves game on the SuperStation back in the day of Dale Murphy, Terry Harper, Ken Griffey, Ozzie Virgil, and Bob Horner. Those were the days! The difficulty of the game was always intriguing to me. I was hooked from day one.
Who is your favorite baseball player and why?
Eric Davis of the Cincinnati Reds has always been my favorite player because of the effort and passion that he played with. You can't teach effort and passion. Either you have it or you don't. He had it and he achieved lots of great things throughout his career on the baseball field because of his dedication to the game.
Tell why serving the community is important to you.
The community is important to me because it is one of the important things that made me who I am today. I SAW lots of great influences that work hard everyday to have a better life. I HEARD lots of great stories from my elders about how they struggled but made it. I SMELLED the freshness of the air because a clean community was always important. My community took pride in that. We have to SHOW our younger generation how the community should be. There are lots of good people in the world that do bad things often times because they don't know better. When you know better, you do better. I am ready to LEAD!
Finish this sentence, "If I could change one thing in the world, it would be......"
to change the curriculum in the school system. In all fairness to students, it is important to understand their learning style so that they have an opportunity to learn properly. I would also like to see more emphasis being put on career options for high school students while they are in high school. There is lots of time being spent on teaching students to excel in Geometry but no mention of how they can use that knowledge as a profession. Students will work hard if there is an incentive to work. It is difficult to excel in a history class if you don't know how you can apply it to your everyday life beyond the classroom.

It was a better day for Atlanta

Posted on January 30, 2011 at 8:47am 0 Comments

On Saturday, January 29th, we hosted our "Meet the Ambassadors" event in Marietta.  We invited several current and future supporters of L.E.A.D. to participate in baseball drills with our Ambassadors.

There was so much laughter in the air.  It is something about baseball that connects people.  Connecting people is what allows L.E.A.D.  to use baseball to transform inner city Atlanta communities.

All of our guest wore there stylish L.E.A.D. Ambassadors t-shirts…

Darren Oliver is a left-handed relief pitcher for the Texas Rangers. I have never met Darren but I am a fan of his from afar based on his work ethic on the field and hearing him speak during press conferences.

Ron Washington is the manager of the Texas Rangers. Ron had his share of problems during the 2010 season dealing with drug addition but he wasn't alone. His struggle helped motivate the Rangers team to come together and do something that the organization has never done. The… Continue

Stealing

Gentlemen,

It was brought to my attention yesterday by one of our fellow Leaders Wesley Clement that his sandals were removed from his bag. Stealing will not be tolerated at all. If you don't have respect for others property, you will learn it this fall. I will provide more information about the color, etc. of the sandals at practice on Monday. If you have them, please give them to me before or after practice on Monday.

I hope that everyone has a…

1935 Ford

Posted on September 8, 2010 at 2:44pm 3 Comments

A little over 3 years ago, I was leaving my baseball training facility in Cobb county for the day and my good friend Josh Mills was coming in to work at his automobile restoration shop. He and other workers were pushing an old, beat up 1935 Ford in the garage.…
